Understanding the GBV Risk score map
1) What is the GBV Risk Score Map?
The GBV Risk Score Map is a tool that shows Gender-Based Violence (GBV) risk levels around the world. It uses a color-coded system to make it easy to understand at a glance.
2) How can I use this map?
This map helps you:
- 1. See which countries have higher or lower GBV risks
- 2. Decide where to focus efforts to reduce GBV, based on specific topics
- 3. Compare countries to learn from each other and support your cause
What do the colors mean?
The map uses different colors to show risk levels:
- π‘ Yellow: Ubiquitous (widespread) risk
- π Orange: Significant risk
- πΆ Dark Orange: Severe risk
- π΄ Red: Extreme risk
π‘The darker the color, the higher the risk.
How do I read the map?
- 1. Choose the topics you want to explore using the options above the map
- 2. Look at the colors on the map to see risk levels in different countries
- 3. Click on a country to get more detailed information
3) Here's an expanded explanation of each GBV risk level:
Ubiquitous (Score 0-20) | Yellow:
This level, also known as widespread, recognizes that GBV is present everywhere, even in countries with the lowest scores. It serves as a starting point from which other risk levels are measured. No place is entirely free from GBV risk. Investments here still require basic GBV risk assessment and mitigation plans.
Significant (Score 21-40) | Orange:
GBV risk is noticeably higher than the ubiquitous level. Investments may face increased challenges due to GBV. More comprehensive risk reduction strategies are needed, going beyond basic mitigation.
Severe (Score 41-60) | Dark Orange:
GBV risk poses a substantial threat to investments. It requires intensive risk reduction efforts. Investors should consider GBV as a major factor in decision-making and allocate significant resources to address it.
Extreme (Score 60-100) | Red:
GBV risk is at its highest, presenting critical challenges to investments. This level demands extensive, specialized interventions. Investors must prioritize GBV risk reduction as a core part of their strategy, potentially reconsidering the viability of investments without robust safeguards.
